Did you know that mid-September to mid-October marks National Hispanic Heritage Month? It's kind of a big deal around the apartments for rent in Denver, CO, and as you might expect, there are plenty of places around town where you and your fellow Denverites can celebrate this rich and influential cultural tradition.

If you weren't already aware, National Hispanic Heritage Month is a way to honor the "history, culture and contributions" of Americans with Latino ancestry (meaning their ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central or South America). What's more, the start of National Hispanic Heritage Month coincides with the Independence Days of Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua (Mexico, Chile, and Belize also celebrate their Independence during heritage month).

This makes the celebrations doubly significant, and if you're looking for a way to show your respect for their traditions, then these are some of the events around Denver you'll want to keep on your radar from September 15th through October 15th, 2019.

    Heritage Month Events in Denver

There will be opportunities all around to celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month in Denver this year, like the Biennal of the Americas, taking place from September 25th to September 28th. This is a four-day extravaganza that will be highlighting all of the art, music, culture, and activism that links both North and South America, and helps to connect prominent figures from across industries and countries to envision solutions to sharing the precious spaces we call home. There are partnerships just waiting to be forged, and this event, which takes place at both the McNichols Building and Civic Center Park, will be key in identifying these potential unions and forging a path into the future.

In addition to this results-focused kind of event, there will also be several concerts taking place during Heritage Month, like the Latin Beats: Sonidos de las Americas Concert on September 25th. Taking place at the Boettcher Concert Hall, this joint presentation from the Mexican Cultural Center and the Colorado Symphony will celebrate the Latino influences so evident in much of the music we hold dear. You'll enjoy a lovely synthesis of traditional and contemporary stylings, all pertinent in our modern musical landscape.

These are but two examples of how you can enjoy National Hispanic Heritage Month, though.
